Booster Club Print E-mail

MCA Athletics has recently formed a Booster Club. If you are interested in getting involved with Mustang Athletics, please contact Rick Hultgren, Booster Club President, at (763) 494-9408.

What is the Booster Club?

We are a parent-led organization with the goal of supporting all sports at MCA. The Club is a non-profit organization with by-laws and a board. Board members are President Rick Hultgren, Vice President Jeff Kaufman, and Treasurer Angela Andres. We are still actively seeking someone to serve as Secretary; Martha Hultgren is the acting secretary until the position is filled.

So what do we do?

Our primary goal is to raise financial support for all sports to better athletics at MCA. In 2008-2009, we will do this through holding events, selling concessions at home basketball games, producing a winter sports program with advertising sales, among other projects. We also encourage parents with students in athletics to purchase a yearly family membership ($50 per family per year). We are actively seeking corporate donations and we would like all athletes at MCA to take part in one annual fundraiser that would go toward athletics. We are also accepting donations (beyond memberships) which are fully tax-deductible because of our non-profit status.

Our goal is for every parent with a student in athletics at MCA to be involved in the Booster Club in some capacity. For some this will mean joining as an annual member. For others it may be working one event a year for a few hours. Still others may want to be involved on the board which plans and organizes events and projects and makes recommendations on how revenues be used.

This leads to our objectives. How will these funds be used? Every coach in every sport at MCA was asked for his or her "wish list." In addition, Jeff Wall, the MCA Athletic Director, compiled a list of other athletic needs. The revenues that the Club generates will go toward those needs. The Board will make recommendations to Mr. Wall and Mr. Sullivan, who will determine how the funds will be spent, but they will all go toward athletics only.

How do you get involved?

Come to a meeting to find out what we are all about. If you are interested in getting on our email list to find out about meeting times, please contact me, Rick Hultgren, Booster Club President, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . We are working to keep this page updated with minutes from our meetings, and other MCA Booster news.

We are on the ground floor of building a first-rate organization to enhance our students' experience of athletics at MCA (plus we have a lot of fun!). If you love supporting your kids and are looking for some place to plug in, check us out!
