Our elementary classrooms are traditional contained classrooms. The students stay with their primary classroom teacher for the bulk of the school day. Our teachers get to know their students personally and welcome the opportunity to partner with you in the education and nurturing of your child.

We currently have multiple classrooms at each grade level. The kindergarten classes are capped at 20 students per classroom. First through sixth grade classes are capped at 25 students per classroom.

In accordance with our mission statement we desire to assist parents in the development of the child's whole person---spirit, soul and body.

Spirit- We recognize God's authority and preeminence at Maranatha Christian Academy. Our teachers endeavor to make our classrooms a place where our students are aware of the involvement God has in their lives. Biblical principles are integrated throughout the subject areas and the school day, from math to recess. We pray for and over our students and their families. We also encourage our students to pray for each other.

In addition to the daily classroom emphasis on spiritual development, we also have a weekly chapel service. During chapel our students receive teaching on the basic tenets of faith such as salvation, prayer, the infilling of the Holy Spirit, worship and character development. This is done through guest speakers, in-house speakers, and even student ministry.

Soul- We believe that our soul houses our mind, our will and our emotions. We strive to have an excellent academic program to develop our students' minds. We believe that our academic program will challenge your child's abilities and meet his or her needs. We use a variety of curricula, with most of our curriculum coming from a Christ-centered perspective. We review our curriculum on a regular basis to be sure it is meeting our students' needs.

In addition to the usual academic subjects taught in the classroom, our students participate in computer class, physical education class, music class, and art class. Plus we now offer an exciting program in engineering and robotics for students in 5th and 6th grade.

Character development is reinforced through our discipline plan. We have a few general rules that are enforced throughout the building. These rules teach respect for self and others as well as good self-management skills.

Body- In addition to their regular physical education courses, our students study good health practices from a Christ-centered curriculum, which teaches that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. Each spring we offer a running club and our Jumping for Healthy Hearts competition. Finally, our athletic program is continually expanding and providing opportunities for our elementary students in various sports and clinics.

Our elementary students experience a variety of field trips, such as trips to a local nature center, roller-skating, in-house productions from local historical theater groups, among others. Our teachers look for field experiences that enhance the curriculum. We also provide opportunities for our students to give of themselves in various outreach programs.

It is our desire to see our students develop into young men and women who are not only well rounded academically and socially, but young men and women who also know how to walk in integrity and who will make an impact for God in their homes and communities.
