Coach Hammond Steps Down After 15 Years.

Last evening at the girls' basketball awards banquet, Pastor Jim Hammond announced he has resigned from coaching the Maranatha Christian Academy girls' varsity basketball team after 15 years as head coach. He finishes at Maranatha with an overall record of 258-144. He has coached the Lady Mustangs to three consecutive 4A section titles, three consecutive state tournament appearances, and two consecutive Class A state titles. He has a state tournament coaching record of 6 wins and 1 loss.  Jim was selected as Section 4A Coach of the Year in 2011 by the Minnesota Girls' Basketball Association and as the 2011 Coach of the Year by the Minnesota Coaches' Association.  His resignation from coaching will enable him to concentrate on something he is equally passionate about; his responsibilities as an Associate Pastor at Living Word Christian Center.  We want to thank Pastor Jim for his exceptional leadership, passion, and investment in our girls' basketball program.  Mark Radtke will assume the head coaching responsibilities.
